Finally, the summer season is here and it’s time to get your hot tub ready for use! You’re hoping you can soak and relax all season long with your family and friends. Maybe last year you had some issues with your spa and you want to make sure that those problems don’t happen again this summer. Don’t worry! We have a couple tips and tricks that will guarantee that your hot tub is in tip top shape!
No More Foam
There’s something so disappointing about turning your hot tub on to get it warmed up and then getting ready to hop in only to find a layer of foam across the surface. So, what causes hot tub foam? Well the experts say there are 3 main causes:
- Things like soap in your swimsuit, fabric softener, skin oils, makeup, and even shampoo
- Low calcium hardness
- Imbalanced water levels
Clearer Water
No one is a fan of cloudy hot tub water. Just seeing that murky appearance can be enough to stop you from enjoying your spa. There are plenty of reasons why your water might be cloudy, but luckily they are all very easy to remedy! First off, let’s talk about the age of your water. If you haven’t changed the water in 4 months or so that is probably the reason for the murkiness. Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) have been accumulating that cause a distinct cloudy appearance. It’s high time that you flush and refill that spa! Chemical imbalances can cause this issue too. Just be sure to follow the guidelines that come with your chemicals and test regularly. Too many contaminants such as lotion or hair gel can fog up your water. Try rinsing off before you hit the spa! Lastly, It might be your filter. You should rinse your filter about every 2 weeks and deep clean it with non foam filter cleaner every 3 or 4 months.
