This June we want to encourage lots of celebrations out by your Rising Sun pool and spa. Here are some days we think you should recognize:
(Note: post has been updated with dates for 2018)
Initially created by Employee Productivity Specialist, Laura Stack, National Leave the Office Early Day was designed as an incentive for those who work 40+ hours each week. What better way to spend your afternoon off than by lounging by the pool?
Did you know that chocolate flavored ice cream has been consumed since the 19th century? Keep the celebration going this June by snacking on some chocolate ice cream by the pool!
There are no excuses allowed today! Text your best friend and make a plan of spending the day by the pool. Time spent with your best friend is invaluable, so keep your loved ones in mind on June 8.
Not only do we love this day because it celebrates our favorite footwear around the pool, but because it has raised over $1 million for Camp Sunshine. Over ten years ago, Tropical Smoothie first created National Flip Flop Day which rewards customers for wearing flip flops with a free smoothie. In return, Tropical Smoothie asks customers to donate $1 to support Camp Sunshine, a year-round program that sends children with life-threatening illnesses and their families to a fun getaway.
June 17 (3rd Sunday in June): Father’s Day
Grab your dad and treat him to a day of relaxation by a pool or spa. Father’s Day was first recognized in 1908 by a church in Fairmont, West Virginia after the 1907 Monongah Mining Disaster left 1,000 children fatherless. But it wasn’t until 1966 that President Lyndon B. Johnson issued the first presidential proclamation honoring all father figures on the third Sunday in June.
There’s no better way to show off your fun day by the pool than picking up your phone and snapping a “selfie” to share with your friends and family. Founded in 2014 by DJ Rick McNeely, make sure to use #NationalSelfieDay on your social media posts!
June 21: Summer Begins!
Spend the longest day of the year – and the official start to summer—out by your Rising Sun pool and spa! Also known as the Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, this day has been marked on calendars celebrating the sun since the ancient times.
Do not lay out by your pool this summer without your sunglasses…especially on June 27! The Vision Council uses National Sunglasses Day as a way to spread awareness and educate the public about the dangers of UV exposure to your eyes. Yes, we love the fashion statement you can make with a pair of sunglasses, but more importantly, we also want you to protect your eyes!
