Happy Thanksgiving from Rising Sun Pools

The holiday season is officially upon us, bringing with it travel, family get together and, hopefully, a lot of backyard fun! Rising Sun Pools will be closed November 26-27 to celebrate the holiday with our friends and family.

If you’re hosting Thanksgiving in your home this weekend, it looks like great weather for spending time in the backyard in the Triangle! Here are 3 tips to make sure that your backyard event runs smoothly:

1) Make Sure Your Pool is Covered

Hopefully by now, you’ve already covered your backyard pool. If you are going to have a lot of people in your backyard (especially children) it never hurts to take a quick look at your pool cover to make sure that everything is secure. If you haven’t had a chance to secure your cover (or if your cover is damaged) make sure that you lock all gates leading to the pool area and warn guests to stay away from the pool.

2) Take Advantage of Your Grill

Do you have an outdoor kitchen or Primo Ceramic Grill? Don’t forget to use them on your food holiday! Even if you’re not smoking your turkey, you can use your grill to help cook side dishes, or just as a handy escape from the bustle of the kitchen!

Grilled sweet potatoes are an easy, unique take on a Thanksgiving staple. Simply gather:

  • 2lbs sweet potatoes
  • 2-4 tbsp olive oil
  • Kosher salt

Cut your sweet potatoes into 1/4 inch-thick pieces, coat with olive oil and cook for 3-6 minutes on each side. If you really want to kick up your dish, toss your grilled potatoes in a simple dressing as soon as they come off the grill. To make the dressing simply combine the following ingredients in a small bowl:

  • 1/4 cup finely chopped cilantro
  • 1 tsp lime or lemon zest
  • 2 tbsp lime juice or lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • pinch of salt

3) Clean Your Patio Furniture

This isn’t the most exciting of planning tasks, but if you’ve been staying inside thanks to the cold weather, it may be time to give your patio furniture a quick clean. The good news is, it’s relatively easy to get dirt and grime off of your patio furniture! Make a simple solution of dish soap and warm water, and apply using a sponge or cloth. Then spray off your furniture and you’ll be ready to go!

We hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. We’re thankful for you, for supporting Rising Sun Pools and allowing us to serve your pool and patio needs!
